May 2025: The In-Between

“Today she feels that she is on the border of time and floating above the world. As if she is in the in-between. As if she needs an anchor.” - Christos Tsiolkas, The In-Between

May is a great month. We won’t know when it starts and when it ends. I can guarantee that it starts with everything going in direct motion in the skies. A lovely mystic rectangle forms between Saturn/North Node, Uranus/Hygeia, the South Node and Juno. What is a mystic rectangle, you may ask? It is an aspect in a chart that I liken to being one of balance. It looks like a dining table held up by four legs. Knock one leg out and the whole thing gets rocky.

A person facing the In-Between of twilight and light.
The In-Between

The same thing with this aspect pattern. We are invited to take the reins in our lives where Saturn drives us to embark. Saturn is in the final degrees of Pisces. We are finishing a thirty-year cycle We will see that new starts are coming through resolving the past with the future. It is time to do things outside of the box. What we were doing before won’t cut it now. With Hygeia in the mix, we must consider our health this month. What have you been doing that you know isn’t right for you but can’t stop? Here, I’ll help with the start. Hi, my name is Georgina, and I’m a chocoholic. I LOVE chocolate! I always have. Yet it is rich in amines. I get attracted to the sugar (hello, my chart is ruled by Venus), and it starts an inflammatory process that throws my hormones out of whack and exacerbates my perimenopause symptoms (yes I am open about that one…woo!)

What do I need to do? I need to listen to my body (and my kinesiologist) and avoid processed sugar as much as possible. The prospect sounds daunting, and I don’t want to, but I have to. For me, avoiding this chemical reactivity allows my body to be in the highest and most positive frequency. That means I need to avoid refined sugar to have balance in life. That is my way of sharing and saying we need balance this month. Listen to your soul to find out where. This aspect pattern hangs around in our skies until the 20th of May.

While this aspect holds the blanket of balance over our heads like a celestial umbrella, more cool things are happening this month. Venus enters Aries on the 1st of May as Mars exits its retrograde shadow in Leo the next day. We can finally take that action in our relationships and with those closest to us. We finally know what we want from our interactions with others. It involves leaving our comfort zone too thanks to the North node being sextile to Uranus.

On 5th May, Pluto stations retrograde and sextiles Venus and Neptune. We are being called to look beyond the beauty and stories we are being shown to the truth of what is to come.

Mercury moves into Taurus on 10th May. When Mercury moves into this sign, I hear one thing in my mind's eye. “Think before you speak.” Now, when this phrase comes up, it isn’t an indication of saying the wrong thing and putting your foot in your mouth. It is about thinking about what we say. Making sure the message is clear, considerate and diplomatic. It is also about saying things that you will follow through with. You need to say things you can follow through with and keep your word. Make sure you can deliver what you say. It shows honour, honesty and respect.

Because on the 13th of May, a Full Moon in Scorpio comes in. The words spoken in the last few days will ring true in our minds. This Full Moon is all about having a detox. Of course, we all know that a Full Moon is about release, but this is the astrological enema of releases!

What needs to go won’t fade. It will rush out of your life as quickly as your body will pass through eaten food that has gone off! It is about realising where we are and making space for where we are destined to be (Moon square Pallas Athena, conjunct Juno). If you are connected with your other half, the connection evolves as Scorpionic themes of sex, death, and taxes appear. Talking about these themes with our other halves or those closest to us connects us more (Pluto squares Mercury). With Pluto being retrograde, and what you are discussing gets heated with no resolution, that is OK. The door has been opened for it to happen in good time. We know what is good for us and learned the lesson presented to us as Venus in Aries exits its retrograde shadow on 16th May.

It’s a big month so far and I haven’t even got to the good stuff! Hang on to your hats everyone because Ceres moves into Aries on 17th May. But I won’t talk about this yet. Remember this one for a few days to come.

So on 20th May, the Sun moves up to this mystic rectangle. It shines on Hygeia in Taurus, asking us to be careful what we say. Are we speaking our truth? In a spiritual sense,  any issues with the throat can be related to speaking out. If you aren’t voicing your truth or have energetic blockages, they can come up as a tickle in the throat. This is a sign we need to speak out and claim our power. Once we do so, the Sun’s job is complete, and the mystic rectangle I mentioned at the start of the month disappears to make way for something exciting!

On 21st May, the Sun moves into Gemini! Happy Birthday dear Geminis! He makes a sextile to Neptune asking our dear Gemini Suns to see where they can be more creative in their lives and more compassionate.

On 22nd May, Hygeia moves into Gemini. Never has wellness and mental health been more noticeable than during this transit. Anxiety can become a tad more exacerbated. Anything to do with our hands, arms and lungs can manifest if we find we are carrying what we don’t want to. We may commit to things we don’t want to do and can’t get out of it. We may open our mouths and overcommit to things we don’t want to do. I recently learned of a new acronym: JOMO - Joy Of Missing Out. Don’t commit to something you don’t want to. Prioritise yourself. With the advent of technology, we find ourselves overcommitting. Pluto, in retrograde motion, invites us to ditch/cut back/alter our use of technology for our health.

We may take those first steps as a new cycle begins on the 25th of May. On this day, Mercury conjuncts Uranus in Taurus. Expect breakthroughs in ideas as the start of a new cycle as Saturn moves into Aries! This marks the beginning of a new 30-year cycle, with new lessons brewing as a fresh synodic cycle unfolds. When Saturn enters Aries, it joins Neptune and Ceres (remember that was the asteroid I said to keep in mind from 17th May). This stellium forms a sextile with Pluto. The mother-in-law of Pluto, Ceres, brings this new cycle from the depths of the underworld to the surface of Earth.

This conjunction gives us a hint of the new era that is upon us. Saturn will retrograde again later in the year in Pisces. It will allow us to finish what we need to. Then in 2026, it will start full-steam ahead. Until then, we are in what I call the in-between. We are neither here nor there and the best thing we can do is take it one day at a time. We haven’t seen a cycle like this since ancient times when the seeds of democracy were being planted.

It will be fascinating to see how this evolves in modern times. To learn more about this cycle, check out my article in The Evolving Astrologer on my members-only pages.

On 26th May, Mercury moves into Gemini. It makes a sextile with this stellium of planets in Aries and a trine to Pluto. This minor grand trine asks us to be thorough in this new beginning. We’ve let things go this month, we brought about balance and need to be focused on where we are heading. Set your goals, make some plans and be practical in your problem-solving. Then let the Universe do its magic. But of course, we need to give the Universe a nudge to start this month as May starts its exit.

The New Moon in Gemini on 27th May joins Mercury on this minor Grand Trine. The Moon invites us to listen to those feelings that need to be released so we can take constructive action toward our transformation. Those nudges are from our intuition. We must embrace this new cycle and visionary thinking of a new age peeling through. We can now read between the lines as our Gemini senses are on alert. We will finally be able to see the unseen.

What a month! It’s an action-packed and super exciting. Hopefully, this forecast has provided an anchor that allows us to stop and plan. And hopefully, this forecast provides a map of how to navigate this exciting beginning. In our lives and our species too we navigate the in-between.

See you next month!

Astrological blessings,

Georgina xxx
